Getting Help Right Now

If you feel unable to keep yourself safe or you are worried about harming yourself please use the contacts below to access support.

Visit your local A&E Department or call 999 and ask for an ambulance.

If you are concerned about immediate risk of harm to yourself or someone else, phone for an ambulance or go to your nearest A&E hospital.

Ask your GP for an emergency appointment.

GPs will try to keep appointments free on-the-day for emergencies.

Contact your local NHS crisis line

They can provide 24h support for adults and children. You can call on behalf of yourself or someone else. You will speak to a mental health professional.

This team can refer you to NHS services for treatment. They can also tell you about local support services such as helplines, crisis houses or cafés.

Call Samaritans

Samaritans provide confidential emotional support for anyone who is experiencing feelings of distress, despair or suicidal thoughts.

You don't have to be suicidal to contact Samaritans.​

The NHS provides a list of mental health charity helplines. These include Anxiety UK, Campaign against living miserable (CALM), Rethink and Bipolar UK. Some of these provide emotional support, others provide practical support.
